Gurukul College Chiplun

Cultural Department

Introduction

The cultural department of our institute is renowned for its passion, success, and achievements. Each year, we actively participate in numerous events and consistently excel in various competitions. Additionally, our students and cultural departments organize intercollegiate competitions, activities, and seminars aimed at fostering the development of students. Through these initiatives, we identify and select talented and proactive individuals to join our cultural group team.

We commence the academic year in July by celebrating Guru Purnima, honoring our revered mentors. In the same month, we organize the Youth Festival on behalf of the University of Mumbai, featuring major events in Fine Arts, Drama, Dance, Singing, Literary activities, and more. Our college has achieved the 1st rank in the Dance section at the zonal level in 2019 and 2022. Over the past decade, our students have accumulated numerous cultural trophies and certifications in various fields, including Skit, Mono Acting, Mime, Singing, Poster Painting, Debate, Elocution, Mimicry, One Act, Storytelling, and more.

Between August and September, second and third-year students collaboratively arrange an Induction Program for incoming first-year students. Following the completion of the first half of the semester in December, the second half begins with Gurukul’s Youth Festival called ‘SHODH.’ On National Voters Day, we organize Elocution and Essay Competitions. Additionally, the Commerce department conducts Banking Seminars on July 19 to celebrate Bank Nationalization Day.

The accession of Chha. Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti is commemorated by our Cultural Team through the Shiv Rally of Shiv Rajyabhishek, Powada Competition, and Quiz Competition. In February, we celebrate Marathi Bhasha Din, also known as Marathi Pandharvda, in memory of Late V.V. Shirvadkar (Kavi Kusumagraj).

As an educational institute, we observe various regular events, including Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, Savitribai Phule Jayanti, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, Swa. Savarkar Jayanti, and others.

Our academic year concludes with a Send-off Ceremony for the graduating students, where we bid them farewell, reminisce about cherished memories, and wish them the best for their bright future, filled with happiness and success.
