Introduction

Bachelor of Commerce in Banking and Insurance popularly known as BBI is an undergraduate commerce program. BBI provides a greater in-depth knowledge of various features of Banking, Insurance and other financial services. The University of Mumbai started the Bachelor of Commerce (Banking & Insurance) course in 2003-04. and we Gurukul College runs this course from AY 2011-12.
To create for the students of University of Mumbai on additional avenue of employment and also to benefit Banks, Insurance Companies & Industries providing them with suitable trained persons in the field of Banking and Insurance.
To prepare students to exploit opportunities, being newly created, in the field of Banking & Insurance due to Globalisation, Privatization & Liberalisation.
This course also provides the students an insight about Insurance & Banking which includes financial investments, economics, communications, legal parameters, etc. With the BBI qualifications, students can take up promising banking jobs or they can do a PG course in Banking and Insurance and climb higher up the ladder in future.

Eligibility :

12th Pass( any stream )

  • A candidate for being eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Commerce (Banking and Insurance) degree course should have passed XII std. Examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Pune, or its equivalent and secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% in the case of reserved category candidates) at one and the same sitting.
  • Every candidate admitted to the degree course in the affiliated colleges conducting the course shall have to register enroll himself/herself with the University
Duration :
  • The course shall be a full time course. The duration of the course shall be six semesters spread over in three years.

  • A Batch shall consist of 60 students and will increase by 20% after permission from MU.

  • The course shall consist of 39 subjects + 1 Project.

  • The Total number of lectures per subject per semester (Subject) shall be maximum of 60 lectures each of 50 minutes duration.
