Introduction
The Bachelor of Commerce in Banking and Insurance (B.Com B&I) is a specialized undergraduate program designed to develop a strong foundation in the dynamic sectors of banking, finance, and insurance.
Introduced by the University of Mumbai in 2003-04, this program aims to create skilled professionals who meet the growing needs of the financial services industry.
Through a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and practical insights, students are equipped to build successful careers in banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, and related sectors.
Key Objectives:
To offer an additional career-oriented avenue for students and supply trained manpower to the Banking and Insurance sectors.
To prepare students to capitalize on emerging opportunities created by Globalization, Privatization, and Liberalization.
To develop expertise in areas such as finance, investment, banking regulations, insurance principles, risk management, economics, and communication skills.
To foster analytical and decision-making skills required in the rapidly evolving financial environment.
Eligibility :
12th Pass( any stream )
- A candidate for being eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Commerce (Banking and Insurance) degree course should have passed XII std. Examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Pune, or its equivalent and secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% in the case of reserved category candidates) at one and the same sitting.
- Every candidate admitted to the degree course in the affiliated colleges conducting the course shall have to register enroll himself/herself with the University
Duration :

The course shall be a full time course. The duration of the course shall be six semesters spread over in three years.

A Batch shall consist of 60 students and will increase by 20% after permission from MU.

The course shall consist of 39 subjects + 1 Project.

The Total number of lectures per subject per semester (Subject) shall be maximum of 60 lectures each of 50 minutes duration.
