Introduction
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the student youth of Graduate & Post Graduate at colleges and University level of India to take part in various Government led community service activities & programs.
NSS helps the student to grow individually and also as a group. It makes the students confident, develop leadership skills, and gain knowledge about different people from different walks of life. Students also learn other skills that help them lead a better life in various situations. It teaches you to be disciplined and organized with the objectives you set for yourself and your goals.

NSS Unit :
University NSS Cell has initially allotted a NSS Unit of 50 NSS volunteers from the year 2020-2021 under Self-Finance NSS Unit in our Gurukul College. Now, from the Academic Year 2022-23 , we get additional 50 NSS volunteers allotment. So, in AY 2022-23, total 100 NSS volunteers actively participated in different NSS activities.
Benefits of Being a NSS Volunteer:
A NSS volunteer who takes part in the community service programme would either be a college level or a senior secondary level student. Being an active member these student volunteers would have the exposure and experience as an accomplished social leader ,as an efficient administrator and a person who understands human nature.
NSS Activities:
Residential Special Camp:
The Special Camp is organized every year and the duration of each camp is of 7 days with day-night boarding & lodging. These camps are held in different parts of the Villages. Each camp involves 50% of Registered NSS volunteers to undertake the scheduled activities like Shramadaan ,Village School Training, Village Street Play, Tree Palntation Drive, Interaction & Awareness Campaign.
Regular Activities
Many activities are taken up by the NSS Unit in our college like Disaster Management Training Programmes, Street Plays,Tree Plantation Drives,Blood Donation Camps,Career Guidance Programmes, Seminars on Social Causes.

Gandhi Jayanti is an annual occasion celebrated in India on 2nd October .The day marks the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. And this year to celebrate the third national holiday Gandhi Jayanti, PM propose the ‘Ek Saath,Ek Tareekh, Ek Taas’ campaign.
